Prior to opening these files, it is a good idea to close any unnecessary applications which should allow more room for you to open more PDF files at one time. When you have reached the maximum files that Adobe Reader will allow to be opened, a window will open stating the following:

This will close all the previously opened Adobe Reader files allowing you to continue opening and reading more files. You can do this as often as necessary.
